Student helps others Reach for Greatness

Key West student Violet Jangraw, now a junior at Key West High, founded Reach for Greatness Inc. after discovering that most scholarships are reserved for seniors—leaving younger students with dreams but no funding.

When she earned a spot at Columbia University’s law summer program and couldn’t afford the $15,000 cost, she turned her frustration into action. With encouragement from her mentor, criminal defense attorney Dustin Hunter, Violet launched the nonprofit earlier this year.

The organization now provides financial support for ambitious middle and high school students pursuing exceptional educational opportunities. In its first round, the board awarded scholarships totaling $21,500 to three applicants.

Katie Packer Beeson, the nonprofit president, committed an initial $5,000 donation and pledged to match up to another $5,000 in contributions.
